Album description

Hear the original songs on Allison Crowe's debut singer-songwriter album "Secrets" - sister album to Allison's "This Little Bird" collection, and her newest release, "Little Light".

Allison Crowe recorded "Secrets", a solo, singer-songwriter album, in 2004. First setting up a home studio, Allison engineered and assisted with production (alongside Rainer Willeke of Canadian r'n'b combo, Soul Station). Allison performs all vocals (lead and harmonies), plays piano, guitar, keyboards and added percussive 'thumps' to the collection. Secrets contains a mix of tunes from Allison's "band days" (some of which are radically redefined), freshly-penned songs, and a couple of choice picks from other artists: Counting Crows' brooding "Raining in Baltimore" ~ the first song Allison performed when she launched her career as a singer-songwriter; and "Joan of Arc", a shining exemplar of Leonard Cohen's poetic brilliance. Guest artists contributing to Secrets are: Del Crowe (guitar); Jo Lundstrom (accordion); Eric Reiswig (Uilleann pipes); and Rainer Willeke (tambourine).

You will find those cover songs and more on Allison's webpages @ http://www.allisoncrowe.com/Secrets.html

Sláinte! Peace.

With nice instrumentals to back up soaring vocals this album lifts the roof.

This album is beautiful; even better than her other albums Allison Crowe has posted to date.

Her voice is stunning and the piano is great. The combination of the two are fantastic, but I'm not sure it is fantastic enough for 5 stars. Also, points off on the license. It's not quite free music if you don't allow derivative works. I find this album to be much more rhythmic than her others, making it easy to follow the music and lyrics. The lyrics are emotional, or at least the singing certainly makes them seem so. I could imagine Allison singing the ingredients off a bottle of ketchup and me wanting to cry with senseless emotion.

Not to mention that Allison Crowe is really gorgeous herself. Allison, if you are ever in the States, let me know. I will go see your concert, buy you dinner, wash your car, etc.

Thank-you for a refreshing change of a beautiful voice.

Thank you for your voice, for your songs, amazing and exciting. I've never heard any other album as many times in a week as your during last 30 years :-)

I love this artist. This is my favorite set from her. Original singing, lyrics, and piano playing.

Anyone who can cover Joni and do it right wins my vote. (Although her cover of A CASE OF YOU is not on this cd.)
Check out her website for more information and additional songs.
Also not on this cd: Lisa's Song. Breaks my heart.

Very nice! But, excuse me, is possible only instrumental (piano) version...?

Allison has a beautiful voice that she can control with great talent. Combined with such a lovely instrumental backing, this album is a well compiled selection that anyone will enjoy. Keep it up.
