This album consists of 16 short instrumental pieces, written as small scale piano concertos, usually accompanied by strings. Most are meant to be playable at home, and hence the name of the album.
These pieces were written and developed over a period of about two and a half years, with "The Chaining of Prometeus" and "Chamber Works" being to first and last to be written.
Notable exceptions include "The Chaining of Prometeus", which was developed further with the addition of several other instruments and "Chamber Pot", which contains a flute solo.
A Tama drum kit was also used on numbers such as , 'Fibre Optics", "Of Tides and Tadpoles", "Elation" and "The Chaining of Prometeus".
